I really love the Ergo. I’ve been nannying my nephew for a year and I used it all the time. When I wanted to walk somewhere it was so nice to put him in the Ergo and go for a walk. There is a zipper pocket in the front that I can put things in like an extra pacifier, keys, a wallet, necessities for a short walk to the store. There’s even room for a few diapers if needed. There is an even smaller pocket in fornt of that with no zipper to put small things things in.

Needless to say, I was more than happy to buy this for my baby. He’s 5 and a half weeks old so I have to use the Ergo infant insert and that works great to give him the best fit, but hes a big baby a growing fast so I’m sure he’ll fit in without it soon enough. I love the ease of carrying him on me rather than pushing a stoller for walks and things, although I am getting a stroller, they have their place as well.

It’s easy for me to get on by myself with a clip around the waist and one at my shoulders. My husband can’t bend his arms back to unhook the shoulder clip himself but he’s figured out a good system of flipping it over his head and then he can easily unhook it and get it off.

I’ve tried out the Baby Bjorn a couple of times while babysitting for a friend and although it is a nice product I ultimately like the Ergo better. The Ergo can hold a larger child and it comes with nice pockets that I didn’t notice on the Baby Bjorn, I also find the Ergo more comfortable as well, and easier to put on and take off. The one thing I do like about the Bjorn is that the baby can face forward which is fun when babies are older and more curious about looking out at the world. You can face the baby forward in the Ergo but he/she has to be on your back so your head and body disrupt his/her view, not to mention you can’t see your baby either.

I love that it’s organic, since I plan on using it a lot it’s good to know that the fabric is better for my child. WE got the Chocolate color, which I love and is gender neutral so it will work for any child I have in the future, but I love the fact that there are so many colors to choose from. Overall I think this is a great product!

I had been lent the original Baby Bjorn and my son was good with it–not great, but better than other carriers I had tried (slings). He was getting bigger and I needed something to help my back. This product is great! I barely notice his weight. It really does distribute the weight onto the hips. The shoulder straps are wide and comfortable. It is easy to get him in and out of it. My son is only 3 months old and sucks on everything near his mouth. The terry cloth cover for the straps is a nice and useful touch. I would highly reccommend this if you are looking for a carrier for the long term.

We have a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and an Ergo Baby. The Ergo Baby is the one we use, the other two we donated to the salvation army.

The big advantage the Ergo has is the waist strap. This shifts a significant amount of weight to your hips. Otherwise the entire weight is held on your shoulders, which gets to be quite uncomfortable after a while.

By putting the weight on your hips, the Ergo Baby makes it possible to carry a child who weighs more and for a longer period of time. I wish we’d found this with our first child, as it would have saved us money (for the other ones we bought) and our aching backs!!!!

There’s also a couple of pockets – one with a zipper. Good place to put your cell phone, wallet, etc. The Snugli had a pocket with snap, while the Bjorn had none. The Ergo is not as sleek and attractive as our navy blue Bjorn. Our Ergo was a gift and it came in a pale turquoise. I think the black Ergo looks better, but it’s still not as sleek and stylish as the Baby Bjorn. Frankly, after a few weeks of a newborn crying at all hours, looking hip comes way down the list after comfort, convenience and sleep…. Just saying…

The only complaint would be that it takes some practice to use the side carry and rear carry positions. The DVD does show how it’s done, but it really helps to have someone who is familiar with the process or have someone spotting you the first time you use it in these positions.

Over the course of three children we have had FIVE carriers: Two slings, a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and the Ergo Baby.

The Bjorn is definitely the best looking and easiest to use. The clips and connectors are very intuitive and it’s easy to get smaller infants into it. In the first 3 months, this was my favorite carrier.

The “Air” version is basically the “Original” with much more breathable fabric. Unfortunately this doesn’t address the biggest shortcoming of the carrier.

My big complaint is that when the kids get larger (or if you wear it for more than ~10 minutes at a time) it really starts to kill your back. This is because the design keeps all the weight on your shoulders. It’s like wearing a backpack BACKWARDS!

The “Active” version has wider straps and a which provide additional support for a small improvement over the “Original,” but it still puts all the weight on your shoulders, pulling them forward. The additional strap is a “lumbar” strap and still too high to put the weight on your hips.

If you backpack, you know what I’m talking about. A lightweight daypack is fine for lugging 10 lbs of textbooks from class to class, but if you want to be able to hike for an hour with 25+ lbs you have to shift the weight to your hips.

If you only plan to use this when grocery shopping and think you’ll give it up when they’re 6 months old, this might be for you. If you think you might want to go to the park and hang out, or use it even when the kid starts to crawl, then the Ergo Baby is probably more your speed. My wife can take our 25 lb one year old for 20 minute walks around the neighborhood in the Ergo. We keep it in the car to use as a stroller substitute just in case.

p.s. this is coming from a guy who is 6′, 180# and fit. My wife is smaller and far more critical of the ergonomics of this carrier.

I bought this wrap after researching different types of slings and carriers. I am a first time mother and I was looking for something comfortable and easy to use. The moby wrap was great around the house with my newborn. It kept her secure and freed my arms. However, I noticed that it was a pain to put on and being petite (5’2″) every time I was putting it on the fabric would touch the floor. This came really annoying when I tried to use it at the mall. Most of the fabric was in the floor getting dirty. Another problem was that no matter what I did I always looked like a Jedi from Star Wars (LOL!). Currently, I use a Bjorn (the one w back support) outside the house and the moby inside (I want to get something out of the money I spent). Hope this helps!

I have given this gifl to 3 new parent couples, and everyone loves it! The dads really like being able to care for the babies, and after giving the navy blue one to my daughter, we learned that the gray one is better, because it does not show “spit ups”, and is a lot cooler for Dad’s to wear. Also, the size adjusts for men and women, so it works for both parents. My son in law grouted his shower “wearing” his daughter, no problem!

The Synergy is definitely an improvement over the Original Bjorn and is much lighter than the Bjorn Active. It’s not bulky and is as easy to use as the Original Bjorn. I’ve found that the back support greatly increases how long I can carry my baby as compared to the Original (which I used with my first child). A lot of the baby’s weight is still on your shoulders, but the lumbar support does help. I like that the Bjorn lets my 3 month old baby sleep peacefully (facing me) and then when he’s awake he can face out and explore the world.

I bought a Beco Butterfly 2 after my son outgrew the Bjorn.

First off, I just have to say that the Bjorn killed my back and shoulders. From what I’ve researched, it’s also terrible for baby’s spine and joints.

The Beco, however, is so much better for the wearer and baby. For wearer, it places weight on your hips, rather than your back and shoulders. For baby, it supports the baby in a natural sitting position.

I have been using the Beco for 1-2 months now for my now 23-pound son. I love it. We use it when we run errands or do chores around the house. As long as I adjust the straps properly, I don’t feel discomfort in my back or shoulders. My son loves riding in the back carry around the house. He kicks his feet in excitement every time.

I love that I can use the Beco for front or back carry. The back carry took some practice, but I can get my son on my back by myself.

My husband also likes using the Beco. He finds it to be comfortable and easy to use.

The instructional DVD that comes with the Beco is quite helpful. If you purchase this product, you should watch it for info on how to use the Beco safely.

The Beco is a little pricey, but the comfort and ease of use make it worth the price! Highly recommend!

Before purchasing this carrier, i researched and researched and researched and- oh yes, researched some more. Why? Because 100 bucks is a heck of a lot to put down on a baby backpack… Sheesh.

Ergo consistently gets great reviews- from Moms, Baby Boards, BabyWearers, etc etc etc. There is a REASON for this. If you frequently wear your baby (errands, travel, exercise) it is worth the investment. I tried cheaper carriers (Baby Bjorn, Infantino, and such) which all caused me discomfort, pain, and frustration (not to mention the howling infant who hated the difficult enter/exit process of these). I stopped enjoying my time out with baby, and hated dragging our huge stroller around. SEVERAL carriers later, I broke down and finally bought the Ergo in Galaxy Grey-

First, it’s SO pretty! SO PRETTY! I am happy to wear it anywhere, and me and baby feel so stylin’ when we go out! The material is comfortable and DURABLE, the design is GORGEOUS (especially the swirlys on the sleep hood). Also- it’s gender neutral enough for any baby. It somehow manages to look feminine on me and masculine on my husband.

The moment it came in the mail, baby and I put it on and got going! WE HAVEN’T STOPPED SINCE! My Ergo hangs on a hook by the front door, and we rarely leave it there! This was almost as good as buying a gym membership- we walk everywhere! The straps are thickly padded and never dig into my shoulders, no matter how long we are out. My baby’s weight is distributed evenly and well, she feels much lighter in this carrier- and the fabric breathes, which is great during the sweltering hot summers we have here. The instructions for carry are simple, i never worry that she isn’t secure enough and I can EASILY get her in and out of this, even when she is sleeping!

If I had made this incredible investment to begin with, I would have saved myself the $80 I spent on 4 cheaper carriers, and avoided all the aggravation!

ERGO! ERGO! ERGO! Hollaaaaaa!
